Control your emotions, control your life
Every day is a battle against your emotions. The “You vs. You” mentality is more than just an arbitrary motivational saying, it’s an actual contest between how you are currently conditioned to behave and how you would like to behave.
Your mind and body craves relaxation and energy conservation. Changing your behaviors, mindset and spirituality requires an extensive amount of work, both mentally and physically.
Your emotions like anxiety and fear will occur automatically, you don’t have to do any work for those to pop up. They will get in your way of progress by telling you to calm down, relax, stop.
Emotions are what kept me drinking, drugging, eating like shit, missing work, staying on social for hours. watching inappropriate videos, scared out of my mind to stand up for what I believe in, thinking the world is doomed, missing Church and claiming I “only believed in things that can be proven” and overall not doing shit.
Work is required to pause, evaluate the situation, work through what emotion you’re feeling and why, and ask yourself if the emotion(s) you’re feeling are legitimate. Then courageously step forward even when you’re petrified and unsure of what’s to come.
This is not a one day fix, this is a lifelong journey.
The person who can wake up every day and fight the good fight every single day and fail constantly, yet continually take one step forward, is the person who is filled with fulfillment and achieves progress and growth.
The person who lets emotions continually run their lives end up with a void inside them. As I had for years.
The first test will happen most likely within the next hour, maybe even right now. Let’s do it.
