Happy November!

November just FLEW right by! What a busy month it was. We are oh-so excited to jump into the holiday season. A time that brings together friends, family and loved ones. We are excited to get to meet with bands over the holiday season and enjoy each others company whether that be at a show or over dinner. We can’t wait to spend more time really getting to know our bands on a more personal level.

Here at Yeg Music we’ve been amping up for our Christmas Fundraiser Keep Yeg Warm. “Keep Yeg Warm” a winter coat drive for The Bissell Centre! We all know how freezing cold it can get in Edmonton and having the proper winter wear is so important to ensure the health and safety of our most vulnerable groups. “The struggle for survival is often most pressing during the winter months when temperatures in Canadian cities can plunge to -30 degree celsius and below. Environment Canada warns that at temperatures with a wind chill of -29 to -39 degree celsius, exposed skin can freeze in 10–30 minutes with subsequent hypothermia and frostbite. Across Canada in 2011, there were 95 deaths from exposure, with these deaths occuring twice as often in men than women. While the number of deaths from exposure are small, many advocates ask why these deaths, as well as exposure-related injuries or illnesses, are still happening at all.” (Author-Karen Born, Verna Yiu & Joshua Tepper) Donations of new or gently used winter coats or paying 15$ cover at the door will go towards the Bissell Centre. All of Yeg Music Funds for the show will be going directly to The Bissell Centre. HUGE THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS: Yegbossbabes and CKUA Radio Network. Even if you can’t stay for the event, please feel free to drop off your winter jackets anytime after 6pm on December 7th at Arcadia.

Make sure to check out our website and find a show that interests you.

With Love,
Sabrina, Michelle, & Chris
