I don’t have the statistics in front of me but humans historically have drunk astounding amounts of alcohol. This goes back to when water supplies were too tainted to trust and fermented beverages added level of safety. But even just before Prohibition Americans were drinking crazy amounts of booze. We have spent most of history semi-buzzed.
