Labour lost Copeland. UKIP missed an open goal in Stoke because their leader is an idiot. Corbyn’s ineffectiveness was a significant factor in both places. Feedback from canvassers was that his leadership was easily the biggest factor preventing many from voting Labour.

I don’t disagree with your analysis that we should let Scotland secede and fight for the RUK to remain part of the EEA. I also agree that Labour should be building alliances with others in the centre and the left. I see none of this happening with Corbyn as leader.

Whilst I’m glad for Stoke that they rejected UKIP (albeit with a reduced majority), last night’s results will have served to weaken Labour further without fatally wounding Corbyn. That will be music to Tory ears.
