Smart Internet of Things

Have you ever thought over the idea to make your home smarter? As soon as you wake up, a cup of coffee with a pancake are already waiting for you in the kitchen. Sounds great, right? This story is not simple words, in our world of information technologies people have already met the Internet of Things which is connected to surrounding objects and database data. So, your home stuff now is able to perform any of your ideas and wishes within some time.

How does it work? Your everyday physical objects are connected to the Internet and able to identify themselves to other devices. This may include sensor technologies, wireless technologies or QR codes. The roots from the IoT term went from the Kevin Ashton in 1999. The main aim was to make world smarter and easier going than ever. This system suggests data created by things, so people do know when things need to be replacing, repairing or recalling, and whether they are fresh or not. IoS is a huge and fast developing system. Every year a great amount of new explored areas are showcased there. Here we want to pay more attention on the last announced smart home systems from Google, Apple, and Samsung.

Smart Home

Thanks to annual Google conference we all were impressed with new opportunities waiting for us this fall. Your own Internet of Things Home is able to link all of your connected devices like lights, cameras, thermostats and small appliances. A personal assistant will be a microphone, speaker, plastic top with LED lights and a fabric or metal bottom — wrapped around a Chromecast. The leading manager of Google Home system is Mario Queiroz, who also managed the development of Chromecast told that Google Home will run a ARM-based chip and contain a Wi-Fi chip.

For those who still aren’t familiar with what the Chromecast is we want to add that this is a small media streaming device to plug into a TV’s HDMI port and allow users to “cast” video from their phone or tablet onto the TV. Chromecast technology will be a vital part of Google Home as its Audio is able to connect to speakers and allows users to play music from mobile devices on home stereo systems. Google speakers are able to receive voice requests and provide smart answers to even the trickiest questions. Questions are not just about a single word answer, you can ask Google to switch on TV, play music, turn on light, lock/unlock door and etc. Get instant access to Google Assistant and ask follow-up questions until you get the answers. It will also browse your schedule to give you an idea of what your day looks like as you’re heading out the door.

The gadget itself doesn’t have a bulky and heavy look. It’s like a small vase which is fit to any of your interior design. The device syncs to a smartphone version called Assistant, and links to streaming device Chromecast and smart home brand Nest. We can’t call Google Home completely surprising IoT solutions as Google-owned Nest confirmed in March its scrapped plans for assistant over privacy concerns.

HomeKit

One thing started its work two years ago now is awesome and ready to please Apple users with its simplicity. With the help of well-known Siri, every single step in your home can be predicted and done immediately. Imagine that Siri is your personal secretary and want to prepare any thing in your home before you open your eyes. With today’s home devices and appliances such kind of automation is possible for the home. Let’s consider the latest ready things:

  • Security & Smart Locks. Kwikset Kevo, Goji and August smart locks are able to unlock the door without having keys in a pocket. Moreover, you will be able to receive a message with the photo of whoever is ringing the doorbell. After you’ve receive a message, you can simply unlock door by pressing a button on your device without having to run all the way to the front door. Security system is non less smarter than lock as it streams all of the activities performing into your house. Whatever is going on indoors will be reordered and in case of any forbidden activities this would alert you should any intruder break in.
  • Light. Apple gave you more comfort simply adjusted smart lights to your needs. You don’t need to get up for such reason, just use your Iphone and switch on/off it.
  • Smart Appliances. Your household stuff became smarter than you? It’s unbelievable, but somehow true. Ask your fridge when you should do your groceries or if something is about to spoil. Your washing machine now can automatically do your laundry, and smart televisions can access the internet and stream your favorite shows.

HomeKit works with any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running run iOS 8.1 or later. Also, with watchOS 2, you can now control all your HomeKit accessories with the Apple Watch (more on that later). And if you have an Apple TV (third generation or later), you can control your accessories with Siri commands when you’re away from home (more on that later).

Smart Home Cloud API

Similar to above mentioned Apple and Google Smart Homes, Samsung didn’t fall behind and represented its own tool to ease customers’ needs and efforts. Without wasting time on description of the main advantages, we suggest to consider key features of Samsung SmartThings The heart of the smart home is Samsung SmartThings Hub which connects to all of your different smart locks, lights, outlets, thermostats, and more and let you control them from the free SmartThings app. User will receive notification about what is going on the smart home. Moreover SmartThing is compatible with smart devices from different companies and this give the main advantage to Samsung smart home users.

SmartThings Hub has free app for iOS, Android, or Windows. You can add as many additional SmartThings sensors or other popular Z-Wave, ZigBee, or Internet-connected products as you want to enhance your connected home. The Samsung SmartThings Hub is built to work in either the US and Canada.

In conclusion…
