Step in, into the river
The water’s cold but fresh
Put your feet in, wiggle it a bit
Feel the cold travel, like lightning
Through you, infusing, demanding
That you live — unrestrained
Now, step in further more
Until your arms graze the surface
Splash now, like a child
Feel the drops on your face
Energising, wringing laughter
And laugh out aloud, alive
In the cool waters of life
