Bursa, about 20 km inside of Turkey is located in the northwestern part near the Sea of Marmara. The Ottomans, who started as a small emirate in the rural area in the east of Bursa, took control of their first big city, Bursa. Most of the city’s historical sites date back to this early period of the Ottomans. Today, with 2.5 million population of Bursa, Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara after the fourth largest city in Turkey. It is famous for its peaches, silk and chestnuts, but the heavy industry recently found at the outskirts of the city has surpassed these traditional industries. Furthermore, Uludağ, one of Turkey’s highest mountain, is very close to Bursa and Turkey’s main winter sports center.
