Thanks for this article, Quincy — agree with every point you make! Was about to write my first-ever post on the topic hadn’t you done it first:)

Running a company that teaches millions of young people how to code (SoloLearn), we witness the life-changing impact of coding on our community — be it for programming or non-programming jobs. Whether coding is “the new literacy” or simply a must-have skill improving your choices, knowing how to code increases our value in the job market today just like speaking additional language impacts your pay in almost any job out there. As to sufferings and frustrations while learning, mastering any skill is hard, and not-learning is not the solution here. Instead, maybe the focus should be on creating a more motivating and fun learning environment accessible to all? Let’s just give anyone an opportunity to learn and be motivated, successful learning is about good teachers and good learning environments. And there will always be those who believe that opportunities are for “ruler” class, just like in the Middle Ages only few were empowered to pick up a pen and paper and write:).
