We cannot help everyone in the world that needs help, so we should only be concerned with our own communities and countries.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
We are living in the world that majority of people is still in desperate need of help. Thus, some people argue that we need to focus on an effort to make our own communities and countries better rather than try to help the whole world. However, I strongly oppose the idea that we should not be interested in other countries’ difficulties.
First of all, as the disparity of wealth between rich and poor countries is becoming wider, it is absolutely necessary that economically abundant countries should contribute more to help other poor countries in various aspects. This is because most poor countries cannot afford to help themselves as they do not have enough resources and technologies to help their people. Thus those rich countries are required to share the advanced technology and support financially to make poor countries more livable places, which lead to benefiting those advanced countries in the long run.
Secondly, the rich countries are partly responsible for the poor countries’ predicaments since, historically, those advanced countries have exploited the poor countries’ natural resources and human labour for their own benefit. Thus, they cannot be free from the responsibility for causing the poor countries’ current economic difficulties. Accordingly, the rich countries are obliged to help those poor countries, which result in the compensation for what the developed countries have done before in poor countries. Furthermore, it will bring the peaceful mood and harmony between countries.
In conclusion, it seems unfeasible to help those people in underdeveloped countries without contribution from the advanced countries since financial support and advanced technology are essential part in improving the condition of poor countries.
