Because it was never about the money. It was never about NHS. It was about the fact that doctors (people who actually know those pesky things about medicine) decided that torturing a child just so they would be able to say “we’re done everything we could” is bad (this is crass but this is true). Problem was not in the fact that it was paid treatment outside of NHS but in the fact that nobody including the doctor who would’ve done the procedure believed it would help

Then courts heard the case and agreed.
