Charles Perrault was an iconic French author, poet and also a leading member of the Académie Française, who played a prominent part in a literary controversy known as the quarrel of the Ancients and Moderns. He is best remembered for his collection of fairy stories for children, 1697; Tales of Mother Goose. He was borned on 12 January, 1628.

In 1695, when he was sixty-seven years old, Perrault lost his post as secretary. It was at this point that he decided to dedicate himself to his children and began writing stories, inspired by the old oral traditions of French and European folklore In 1697, Charles Perrault published Tales and Stories of the Past with Morals Tales of Mother Goose (‘Les Contes de ma Mère l’Oye’).. He published his first fairy tale in collection in 1697 and quickly became well-known and credited with creating the modern fairy tale. Some of his famous stories are 1697’s “Little Red Riding Hood,” “The Sleeping Beauty,” “Puss in Boots,” “Cinderella,” and “Blue Beard”.

His stories reflect on many things. For example in “Little Red Riding Hood” he taught us that Children should never talk to strangers unless necessary. Children should also not trust stanger completely and tell them their personal information. If not, they might get into trouble.

His love and care for his child is shown in the story as all his stories are thought-provoking and constantly challenging humanity. Hidden beneath the coating of fairy dust, they’re packed with more hints and tips for sorting your life out.

Even today, many of his stories are being told to children. Many parents still read fairy tales to their children before bed time. Movies like “Cinderella,” 1950 and “Sleeping Beauty,” 1959 were filmed and innovated. There are even theme parks like Disneyland located at Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Paris and California where the fictional character will act and interact with people around the world.

I feel that Charles Perrault’s stories enlighten our childhood. I loved to listen to fairy tales when I was young. I think it makes us even more creative and they are good for teaching kids about story development, conflict resolution, the development of characters, heroes and villains and simply broadening their imagination.
