The Top 3 Protein Powders You Need to Try Right Now

#YLWRNGR TIP: Freeze your berries to skip adding ice to your smoothie!

If you’re anything like me, you’re reading this because you’ve jumped on the health and wellness bandwagon and would like to opt for those healthy options first. But where do you even begin start? With so many blogs and social media accounts swearing by the latest superfood or yummy trend, it can be difficult to narrow it down with all that white noise.

In my experience, I believe that replacing a meal or supplementing your diet with a protein shake or smoothie here and there might just do the trick! I know that it has definitely helped me have more energy, feel fuller longer and stave off cravings. Well, if you include a few protein-packed shakes/smoothies into your diet throughout an action-packed week, I promise that you will feel the same.

Here are my top 3 go-to protein powders that you will totally love adding to your blended concoctions:

YES Yoli Essential Shake

Brought to you by Yoli Better Body System, a network marketing company that specializes in nutritional supplements and is dedicated to “transforming lives physically, emotionally, and financially.” After all, yoli is the Aztec word for “to live.” This protein powder is most delicious in chocolate and is honestly one of the smoothest mixtures out there! I swear that this was totally meant to be added along with frozen bananas and/or berries along with a splash of your fave non-dairy milk of choice. The combination is pure protein heaven! Here’s my simple, foolproof Choco Berry smoothie recipe:

Choco Berry Yoli Smoothie
1 packet of Chocolate YES Yoli Essential Shake
1 cup of frozen blueberries (make sure there are no stems!)
2.5 cups of non-dairy milk (coconut, almond, soy or rice milk work well)
1 tbsp ground chia or flax seeds (optional)
1 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Add all ingredients to blender, blend until smooth.

Arbonne Essentials Protein Shake Mix

If you haven’t heard of Arbonne, it is also another network marketing company that is dedicated creating products that are “pure, safe and beneficial.” They are probably more well-known for their skincare and beauty products, but generally boast “botanically based beauty, health & wellness.” As part of their nutrition line, Arbonne Essentials, is this stand-out product. I especially like this brand’s vanilla flavor and what I love about this brand is that it provides a whopping “20 grams of vegan protein, plus more than 20 essential vitamins and minerals per serving. Clinically tested and certified to have a low glycemic index, which has little effect on blood sugar levels and does not cause a spike in blood sugar.” What else could you ask for? Here’s my classic, Vanilla Chai Spice Protein Smoothie recipe:

Vanilla Chai Spice Protein Smoothie
2 scoops of Vanilla Protein Shake Mix
2 cups of non-dairy milk of choice
1 cup of warm chai black tea
1 tsp of greek yogurt
dash of cinnamon & cardamom (optional)

Add all ingredients to blender, blend until smooth.

Vega Protein & Greens

Vega is another amazing brand of plant-based protein powder that actually tastes great! This one is a bit grainier than the other 2 powders I’ve listed, but that’s only because it also contains an amazing blend of greens (alfalfa grass, broccoli, spinach & kale). I highly recommend this if you are not a huge fans of veggies, it’s a great way to sneak them in without having to deal with preparing and cooking vegetables. Quick and almost too easy! Here’s my recipe for an unbeatable Tropical Mango Escape Smoothie:

1 scoop Vanilla Vega® Protein & Greens
1 cup coconut milk (coconut water also works great here!)
1/2 cup regular yogurt
1 cup frozen mango cubes
1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks or bits
1/2 tsp of ground ginger
1 scoop of ice (optional if you prefer a chunkier mixture)
