NUJP is a nationwide lateral guild committed to protect the interests of Filipino working journalists. The said guild institutes fraternal relationship among media men and holsters services including legal assistance, media safety desk, professional trainings and simulations, researches and projects, and alliance works.

“It is the duty of NUJP to help in protecting the rights of our fellow media persons,” ends Mr. Daguio after swearing into his new official position.

Currently established with 62 chapters nationwide, NUJP is said to be founded in Isabela and Cagayan provinces for the first time.

The first elected chairpersons in Isabela and Cagayan are Bobby Daguio, station manager of 92.9 Brigada News FM based here, and Sherlida Blanda, news anchor of DZCV Tuguegarao. The estabishment of both chapters are facilitated by Melvin Gascon, correspondent of INQUIRER.net, as a current Northern Luzon director and Chairperson of the earlier found NUJP Nueva Viscaya.

In March 3, first batch of journalists from across Cagayan Valley have taken a basic media safety training duly conducted by NUJP and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Journalists reported harassments such as threats to life and family of the radio reporters and broadcasters and the television reporters.

In an interview by 92.9 Brigada News FM Cauayan, Gascon explains that as a united group of media workers, NUJP extends its help among its members to assist in their plight for the rights on decent salaries and on freedom of press. He also expressed the aim of the said guild to provide its services even to non-member media workers.

“It is the duty of NUJP to help in protecting the rights of our fellow media persons,” ends Mr. Daguio after swearing into his new official position. #
