【Tourist Destination】How to enjoy Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo

Rainbow Bridge is a bridge crossing the Tokyo Bay, which arches from Shibaura to Odaiba, popular waterfront area. Established in 1993 it has long been a landmark of Tokyo Bay.

Moreover it plays an important role for the main traffic to go to the east area of Kanto. The bridge has two stories, the upper floor aims for the Tokyo metropolitan express way while the lower is for the general traffics and the train called YuriKamome. We can walk through the sidewalk of the lower floor of the bridge.

While in spring and summer when daytime extends loner in Northern Hemisphere, people are able to walk along the bridge. But we can’t ride a bicycle on the sidewalk of the bridge.

The sidewalks are divided into two, north route and south route, bay side and ocean side. Walking on the same side of the traffic of vehicles is recommend for our scary feeling that one car after another coming up to us.

When we try to cross the bridge from the Shibaura side, we have to arrive at the terminal located in the tip of Shibaura container yard. At the terminal tower we get on an elevator to start crossing. It takes about 30 min for an average adult to cross off the bridge.

From the bridge we will have a good command of the panoramic view of Tokyo waterfront areas. When it’s at night, it looks as if it is a twin tower building sticking onto the Tokyo Bay.

Or if you are a runner it’s the best path for running without any signal and obstacle. What’s more the beautiful landscapes and summer breeze push us to run at an overwhelmingly high speed.Oh please never forget to take a drink with you!

When you travel in Tokyo please put it into your itinerary amid staying.
