Capital has no heart. Computers are cheaper than people. Robots perform repetitive tasks better than we do. Most “jobs” aren’t inherently better done by people. It’s hard to not see a massively different future coming. I hope we find a way to make it the one of dreams, not nightmares.

This is a great point. Because I have seen people argue that the pace of automation will slow down because of our conscience getting in the way.

Say some business decided to keep people on instead of “employing” AI. They will be beaten in price and quality by increasing margins every year. I mean, whether they like it or not, businesses will let go of people just to stay alive, if nothing else.

And automation has been taking away jobs since the industrial revolution. So, there’s that.
