So maybe instead of focusing on what the threshold is for calling something “intelligent,” we should say there is a scale of intelligence? How intelligent a machine is would relate to its ability to expand beyond the simple function it was programmed to perform, and its ability to outperform itself on a specific task with time (and data). Isn’t this, in essence, how we rank human intelligence?
