Ok so excellent point and I agree that that’s a superior approach in general.

However, we were not at a stage where rebuilding our entire app as a client-side app was feasible. We only wanted to rebuild certain functionality and add new features in React (I suspect this is a situation quite common to Rails companies). That’s why we opted for an integration that injected React into Rails, but still allowed for mature front-end tooling.
