SHOULD YOU FORGIVE YOURSELF IF YOU MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE TWICE

Often times we do things wrongly. It could be the way we treat a friend or a lover, or as serious as a career. It may even be a really small mistake, so small it makes you mentally thump yourself in the forehead several times. It costs you so much loss and breaks you. You vow not to ever do it again.

But you make that same mistake again.

Or even another similar one. Either way, it costs you as much as the first one did. You feel like physically hurting yourself. It messes with you so much, and you look for somebody to blame but deep in your mind you know nobody is to blame but you. You feel like you deserve the punishment and hatred you are inflicting on yourself. You messed up so much. And everywhere you turn, people tell you to hate yourself even more, because how can you make the same mistake two times? You realise how much you’re wrecking yourself, but you don’t feel like you deserve any forgivess.

You are allowed to forgive yourself for making the same mistake twice.

I think the mentality that a person who makes the same mistake twice — or more times — is a fool is flawed. Honestly, who sets these standards anyway? And who are they to be given such power? Everybody’s process is different. It is a plus for you if you believe in destiny, so you must know that what happened was meant to happen.

But anyway,

Sometimes, it is necessary for us to make mistakes several times, in order for us to fully learn and grow from them.

Even if it is the same mistake.

Reconcile with the fact that you are human. You will never be perfect and you need to go easy on yourself. It is human nature to be stupid. We can’t be wise all the time, and we can’t always make the smartest of decisions. There is no need to beat yourself up for that. The goal is to learn and grow, right? How do you intend to do that if you mentally hurt yourself?

Worrying has nothing to do for you, but to cripple you even more.

A lot of people are going to beat you up for doing stupid things. Don't be one of them.

The most important thing is to realise that despite the fact that you have more chances to redeem yourself, you must learn from your mistakes and ensure that you don’t make them anymore, because,

You always have more chances, but you are not promised more time.
