What I like about your reflexion is that it’s an essay about the question: “As a woman, how do I navigate through the professional (and even personal) world, while staying true to who I am, what I stand for, and respect myself no matter what?”

What I understand from Perri’s story is that in this particular incident, her decision to sleep with the investor in that context was a lack of respect towards herself: she played the cultural game she resents. She willingly crossed the professional boundary she had set for herself between what is acceptable and what is not. Like a surfer, you can learn to ride the wave but a single faux-pas will crush you. How to navigate the gray area is very delicate.

Her story illustrates very well the cultural setting we all play in. She admits that in that particular instance, she contributed to the problem by not respecting her own values. We, as women, also contribute to the problem, consciously or not. Now, the real question is how can we collectively contribute to transforming this cultural setting that is so fertile for sexual harassment problems?
