Being an entrepreneur in the Bay Area II
Final Pitch at 500 Startups in the Bay
And it’s over. The Cohort#9 Blue Startups Accelerator program came to an end.
It seems as though it was yesterday I arrived at Honolulu international airport.
April 17th, a sunny, hot and humid day. Typical for Hawaii.
Friday was the final day after 3 intense months.
Of course, as people say, you must save the best for last, right? And this week was amazing.
It started with the big day in our mind, pitching at 500 Startups. But before we get into that let’s start from the beginning, Monday fun day.
Lunch and mentor session with Agile Labs, getting the best advice for the next stage of tech recruitment, and best procedures for growing the team cost- effectively.

Right after, we had the chance to once again meet one of the best law firms in the Bay Area, holding accounts for big brands like Linkedin.
All advice received at this point has been invaluable. Meeting with experienced lawyers like Todd Carpenter and Elton Satusky has been an amazing experience.
We are just finishing all the details to start raising our first investment round, so having legal support is critical.

At the end of the day we joined a happy hour powered by TriNet and Early Growth Financials. There was lots of networking, good vibrations and experiencing the environment at one of the best incubators in SF, Runway Accelerator.
Surprisingly, this event had something special in store. The food was “healthy”, which we love. Hummus, fala-fel, was super. It’s good to get away from a steady diet of pizza, right?

Tuesday started all speed with venture partner and strategist Matt Johnson
sharing all the go to market strategy for next months.

Lunch time we had an amazing workshop with Early Growth Financials about fundraising and how can we benefit from hiring a CFO for the next stage of growth.
They were also super knowledgeable about which type of investors we should look at during different stages of a startup.
Plus I have to again thank Brianna for the amazing salad filled with vegetables especially for me.

Right after, we went to one of our first potential partners in the Bay. @Rocketspace is one of the best incubators and wants to use Youcanevent.com to plan their events.

Time to rest and get ready for the big day.
The Pitch at 500 Startups was about to happen, but just before we had a mentor session with Sean Narvasa an expert product builder which will mentor us in the future to validate and analyze all of our user flow/experience.

Alex Ledovsky, having him teach us how to manage developing teams of different sizes.
For us this is super important because we have an in-house full stack developer our CTO, Alysson Souza, and a UX/UI and Front-end developer, Thiago Martins, and especially now it is super important to have the best practices and communication methods to deal with “startup agile development”.
And just, just, just beforLie the pitch presentation we had 30 min with @Marvin Liao one of the most famous faces of 500 Startups to share with him our last 6 months of bootstrapping and how we generated $125,000 in revenue.

Now the moment we were waiting for.
Pitching at 500 Startups. More than 100 attendees, a panel of experienced investors, and inumerous opportunities to grow our customer base and brand awareness.

Blue Startups Cohort#9 Family

And we made it. We had the opportunity to make powerful connections after the event that resulted in meeting Nick from 1piecework.com — your ultimate workspace.
Thursday was time to wrap up to do some more networking and make connections with investors, including meet Nick at one event held at 1piecework, to hear about some pitch presentations and learn what is being done in the Bay ecosystem.

Friday was time to say goodbye to our fellow startup founders, and we had lunch at Fang Restaurant.
Amazing Chinese-American food suggested by our content marketing and Social Media Rockstar Bien Loulou Hoang.
