The over sexualization point is interesting and I think is a point that could apply to a lot of gender relations issues in North America. As commonly referenced, a female nude body, even just breasts in NA garners an R rating. Something as natural as just a bare body, even one that would be portrayed in a very natural, non-sexual manner, ends up being restricted.
Meanwhile, a violent film that features blood and gore can get a PG-13 rating in North America. Something that is very unnatural is unrestricted.
I’m not going to talk about the effect of violence and/or sex in movies and what appropriate ratings would be, but when you look at our rating system, it’s a lot less surprising that our culture brings that over sexualization into the world of the workplace, politics and any other number of other arenas.
Thanks for the read!
