Ten things I hope to remember when I feel down.

1. Set your goals and aim higher.

Even if you might fall short, you will still end up accomplishing more than you would if you just aim for goals that are easy to achieve.

2. It is totally okay to freak out, but don’t let fear and anxiety take over your mind.

I feel insecure when there is uncertainty. Sometimes I get too anxious to think and plan properly. Then I realize I always have a chance to make it better. If I am walking on a “flat road,” I wouldn’t feel scared.

The reason why I feel scared is that I am about to make a change, either a good one or a bad one. Instead of worrying too much, I hope I react with calmness and focus on how I can make the best of it.

3. Don’t lose faith when things get tough.

If your goals are achievable overnight, they are not goals.

More importantly, it is not about having goals that scare you. It is about having the capacity to move on and continue putting in the effort after failures. With time, dedication and persistence, it will happen.

4. Control your thoughts. Seriously.

Just cut off negative thoughts.

5. Happiness is a choice.

You have every right to be happy.

Think about how far you have come. Be thankful for what you have. Comparing with others makes no sense, so stop doing that.

6. Success is a consequence.

My behaviors affect what I will get. Every choice leads to a consequence. Be aware of behaviors and consider what consequences behaviors might bring.

If I want to do well in product design, I read and learn about product design. Then I practice skills related to it and learn from every practice. Each time I learn a bit more and improve a bit more…

And…I define my own success. If I want to be “successful,” it is up to me to take the initiative and start acting on that definition.

7. Live and learn

“There will rarely be a right or wrong decision but moving on.”

No one was born with the knowledge of knowing to manage everything. We all learn as we grow. Living is a lifelong process, and so is learning.

8. Exercise for health

“To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.”Buddha

Not until I went to the gym last week for my first total body strength class did I really came to realize that exercising made me feel happier. The class was intense for a person who never exercised, but definitely contributed to a healthier lifestyle of mine.

Health is wealth, for real.

9. Love yourself. I mean it.

I take it as spending time and energy wisely. If you would never want to see your best friend doing something, don’t do it to yourself.

Accept yourself for who you are. Start where you are.

Eat well; sleep well; live well.

10. Believe in yourself :)

Without shadows, we won’t know about lights.

Don’t give up. Nothing worth pursuing comes overnight.
