Re-Learning the art of Blogging
Firstly Hello to all... My names Tom Osborne i’m in the process of founding an online media Co. Previously I have had roles inc Biz Dev and CMO ranging from Property Development to Smartphone Apps.I am single and Co-Founder of the most beautiful miniature human I have ever encountered. My Daughter’s name is Ava and she is 3 3/4. I love business and technology and reading what others have to say.
Must admit its pretty intimidating stuff, yesterday i got the invite to start writing. Last night I spent a few hours looking through some great posts, looking at the authors and realising I kind of should get the ball rolling. At the same time thinking… What the hell do i write about.
I used to own a blog (that my social handle derived from) called Youngstapreneur. Which was a personal blog i started when i finally jumped from 6 years in real estate into my real love for Technology. I wanted to pass on my experiences and lessons to other aspiring young entrepreneurs and startups. I mashed up the words young startup and young entrepreneur, and got youngstapreneur. At the same time Mumpreneur plus others where flying around.
Anyway for 7 months of 2013 i was CMO at a UK startup that won; ‘British invention of the year’, ‘International innovation of the year’ and ‘Consumer product of the year’, at the British invention show. We pitched to Microsoft, Samsung, EE, Cisco, Google, Viacom, Tesco… and several others. I left when Microsoft started to show real interest, when the team was looking at the Windows API and after discussing the product with Microsoft's OEM team. I have a share in the start-up, but a host of reasons felt this was a good time to something else.
Two months ago i started working on TheRouse — A business news website that brings you exclusive insights from some of the most influential people from all around the globe. Business news, interviews with entrepreneurs, founders and startups. Regular guest articles written by successful individuals and more. All aiming at providing the best business tips, business advice and business knowledge on the web.
Currently i have developed an MVP and got around 50+ contributors Included are some highly successful and/or influential people. Peter Shankman, Steve Keating, Soraya Darabi, Sean Gardner and Dave Kerpen to name a few, Plus an array of Best selling authors, awesome investors from VC to angel, Entrepreneurs from just founding to those who have existed or IPO’d etc
I wanted to site to feel like the newer and cooler sites, like Mashable, TheVerge or TheDailyBeast… BUT… also as important to me is to provided valuable and great quality content. The site was inspired by my blog, both my experience and my networking has made such an idea come to life. i am very excited to see where this journey takes me.
So that's me..
Thank you all that have read this far. I look forward to reading posts on Medium and getting to know you in return.
