Some talented artists will never be discovered by big labels. It will simply take too long to achieve their goals and become famous. But now, for the first time ever, there is a way to get into the music industry in a much shorter time.

Yung Will Never Give Up

Brownsville is considered one the most dangerous spots in all of Brooklyn, NY. That’s where Mike Yung is from. His story is full of ups and downs. Every day Mike rides an hour and half each way into Manhattan to busk in the subways. He makes $40 per day to support his family, and he’s been doing this for over 35 years. And it isn’t easy. After 3–4 hours of singing his voice goes out. Mike has been jumped by gangs, and stabbed 9 times over the years, but none of this is enough to stop him from chasing his dreams. Yung’s way to fame started in 2016, when the video of him performing “Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers went viral.

In 2017, he took part in America’s Got Talent and received more public awareness and support. Encouraged by this increased fan awareness, he started a Kickstarter campaign to fund his first album, “I Will Never Give Up”. With community support, it was possible to raise almost $90,000.

Why Younk is a solution

While Kickstarter’s mission is to “help bring creative projects to life”, Spotify makes it “easy to find the right music for every moment”. Now imagine those two ideas together. That’s the basic idea behind Younk, but it is so much more than that.

Unlike regular crowdfunding, which is called Hit Funding in Younk terminology, the platform gives artists an opportunity to receive first-hand guidance from professional music experts. It also provides listeners the option to be actively involved in creating music charts, to vote, and become co-producers of the the tracks they fund which may become hits later. All of this helps us all make better music together.

Younk’s community music label model benefits both music creators (Artists) and fans (HitHunters) by removing industry mediators and middlemen. This gives artists and fans direct access to one another. So, an artist can more easily find fans, and the fans can find and support new music — which is more in keeping with the needs and challenges of the digital music era.

“Younk’s foremost goal is to modernize the music industry by facilitating direct access to the listener. This ensures better compensation and community involvement in the funding of up-and-coming talents. Music fans also benefit through a unique opportunity to support their favorite artists and become co-producers of the artist’s tracks and earn YNK Bucks — internal currency of Younk ecosystem. YNK is an instrument that may be used to fund a Hit, get bonuses and purchase merchandise, services and goods! “says Andrey Dahkovskyy, founder of Younk.
