Always there for everyone, no one there for you

After a life-changing event, it is normal to take some time off from society and try to repair the damage in you. I, for example, would rather focus on my well-being than having to deal with other people’s problems.

But when you do that, you get judged by society. Apparently the concept of ‘I am trying to make myself feel better’ is not self-explanatory enough. I will base that idea on the current situation I am in.

The last couple of months were pretty harsh for me so, in order to figure out the mess my life is right now, I decided that I will hit pause on my social life (not completely) and just take it easy. And what did I get in return? My friends not only didn’t understand why I am doing it but also they kept judging me for not spending too much time with them and so on. But no one, not even once asked me how I was handling things, no one.

Okay, so I tried to be understanding enough (that is just the way I am, always trying to make everyone happy) and I did meet with those people. And what did we do? I had to listen to everyone’s problems multiple times, try to analyze the whole situation and come up with ultimate, immediately working solutions. And, of course, I did that even though I knew they were not going to listen to me anyway.

However, no one noticed that there was something different in me. It was like I was invisible. But they got what they wanted, right? They wanted someone’s help to deal with their lives and they got it. I know that no one is supposed to think about you and your feeling but wouldn’t it be nice just once in a while to take a look around, maybe there are other people who are in even worse situation you are. Stop for a bit and ask them what’s wrong. Without realizing it, you will make someone extremely happy.

I am trying to stress on the fact that sometimes the smallest gesture of attention towards you can make even the worst situation slightly better. Unfortunately, not everyone realizes that…
