White people’s obsession with dogs is about domination, not about companionship. Let’s just be honest about it.

From European aristocrats using hounds as a symbol of status to settlers using dogs to enforce colonization, white people have treated dogs better than people as long as they were obedient, a thing they lost to people of color when we became free people.

They prioritize dog breeding over feeding the poor. White people humanize dogs while treating Chinese, black, and indigenous people like animals.

White people act like their dog obsession is about love, but it is all about hierarchy, power, and violence, their obsession with purebred dogs comes from their obsession with racial and class purity. Colonial settlers didn’t just own dogs, they used them as colonial weapons to hunt people of color down.
