Best way of dropping a Resume

Some people drop their resume through electronic mail or any other reference. But the best way for dropping a resume is in person drop. Means you should drop resume by going to company in which you want to apply for job.
Here I tell you about my experience and challenges that I faced during in person drop. One day I go to my dream company that is private sector. So I customized my resume and cover letter along with I practiced pitch 4 to 5 times. Unfortunately I did not know the name of HR manager because I did not find any resource in internet who tells about the name of HR. I also had no reference in company. however I went there with well equipped and and well dress. When I reached the gate of company then guard did not allow me to go in. I told him that “1'm come there for dropping my resume and I want to meet HR manager please let me go”. Then he said “ Give me your resume I will give it to HR manager” But I requested him please let me to go to reception I also get some information from there. So finally he let me to go to reception where one woman is sited . Then I told her why I come there. She said “HR manager is in important meeting, give me resume I will give it to manager”. I said “I can wait please tell me when will close the meeting”. She asked me for wait two hours. So i waited for two hours and then I met the HR manager with proper handshake. Then I told him about reason why I came there and then gave him resume and cover letter along with elevator pitch. He says “we have no any vacancy when vacancies will open I call you”. At the end I greeted well and asked him for number. Then he gave me his informational card.
So that’s my story. But before ending I want to tell you what preparation you should do before in person drop.
