The Gay Pride is celebrated on June 28 because on that date the Stonewall (New York, USA) riots in 1969 were commemorated, marking the beginning of the homosexual liberation movement.

That day there was a police raid on the Stonewall Inn pub in a New York neighbourhood. In response, various revolts and violent demonstrations spontaneously arose that sought to protest against a system that persecuted homosexuals.

These riots, along with other events, are considered the first signs of struggle by the homosexual community in the United States and in the world. And the precedents of the Pride marches are considered.
