“If you would be wealthy, think of saving as well as getting.” — Benjamin Franklin

The best lifestyle among many is the one which saves you money without cutting-down fun from life or compromising on anything. Rainy days can show-up at your doorstep anytime without getting you a phone call or anything prior. So, it makes sense for everyone to build up a nice little nest-egg to serve the uninvited guest (the rainy days).

However, with a pay that remains stagnant, it’s a catch-22 that saving money while keeping up with everyday needs (in a world where prices of everything seems to be increasing) sounds like a well-nigh impossible task. Well, if you have been dealing with the same struggle, you need to adopt these money-saving habits to master the art of saving without even compromising an ounce of anything.

  • Shop online and take advantage

Free promo codes and coupons online are more cost-effective than using brick-and-mortar store coupons. According to research, clipping paper-coupons when compared using online-coupons were found to be expensive and time-consuming. Moreover, clicking the mouse/taping a touch-screen is cheaper than buying a newspaper and burning the fuel in the tank. So, it’s better buying your stuff online by taking advantage of digital-coupons available at best coupon sites online.

Also, online retailers reward their consumers with reward points, which is like free money that you can enjoy.

  • Turn-off the extra lights in your home

Turning-off the extra lights in your home may save you a little at a time but would sure cost you money over time. To be an energy-efficient-citizen and to save as much as you can, turn-off all extra lights in your home especially when you’re leaving. Also, use energy efficient lights because they use 75% less energy and last 25 times longer than ordinary lights.

  • Groom yourself at home

Haircuts, manicures, facials and on and on hits to our paychecks very hard. In the era of YouTube and creative bloggers around, you don’t need to hit the grooming-salon every month. Simply, use ingredients from your kitchen and make natural homemade masks. Do your nails by yourself or ask your super creative friend for a favor. Learn tips to wax, buy the stuff online and do it at home.

  • Buy name brands only when there is a good reason to

Running after name brands can blow your budget. I understand that cheap thrills do not always end up being in our favor but there are things that don’t make sense to splurge a good amount on:

  1. No one love to be called old-fashioned, while fashion trends keep changing like a blue-streak. So, it’s better buying clothes & accessories (that we mere are going to be putting on for a while and not for the whole season) from budget-friendly stores. Yes, they do have incredibly awesome pieces that can fill your fashion-lust, your wallet as well as your wardrobe.
  2. Buy your curtains, decoration-pieces and even furniture from thrift stores. While for the rest of the things like electronics, skin and health care goods, and edibles, I won’t recommend penny-pinching.
  3. Make your own cleaning supplies by using old t-shirts as a mope, and for cleaning wet dishes.
  • Take homemade food to work

A study reveals that eating-out and eating-in at lunch, average Americans splurge about $30,000 annually. Preparing and taking homemade food to work can cut-down around $8–10 from your daily allowance. It is an easy way to save because leftover dinner makes the best lunch sometimes and does not require so much effort.

  • Repair instead of buying new ones

Times when your appliances start acting-up, your car starts coughing, or even when your clothes get a torn — consider running for a repair instead of buying a new one. It does not only benefit your wallet only as it saves the environment at the same time too.

  1. Don’t toss-out your clothes because of a broken button or a hole in it. Simply, fix them at home by using a closely-matched thread or ask your mom/aunt for a favor
  2. Run for a repair soon as your device starts acting up.
  3. Use a vacuum cleaner to gently clear-up the dust every day that could harm your device in future.
  4. Buy appliances from a generic source that has a warranty and prefer energy efficient ones if there is an option.

Conclusion:

These are just some tactics that would not 100% be life changing on their own way but would be making a difference over time only if you consider them. Let me know in the comment section below if they work for you or if you have some amazing money saving tips and tricks as well.
