In addition, the author cites various novel sources and association, such as the YALSA, ALA, and novel The Adventure of Tom Sawyer, to support his claim with these examples. At last, his main purpose is to convince his audience that young adult fiction is a subgenre that changes overtime in dramatic plots, but it follows dark tone and mood throughout its story.

He supports his claim by making his audience think about what makes a young adult genre and explains with different novels on how they are written without a structure. His audiences are broad, basically anyone of any age. He wants to convince people to believe that young adult fiction is not a type of genre.

Cory Doctorow, a popular young adult fiction writer, claims that this genre is written in a way that naturally attracts young adult readers because they often seek for excitement, easily understandable story, and challenge to be independent individuals. Throughout his career, he has written many young adult fiction that became the best-seller of the time. In this article, he focuses on utilizing his successful novel and other rhetors to support how adolescents are intrigued for young adult fictions. His purpose is to explain why young adult fiction are necessary for adolescents because they are at the stage of absorbing anything they read, and they are in need of getting help to move to the next stage of life.

Cory Doctorow, the author of many young adult fiction, creates different characters from all over the country to demonstrate the importance of labor law and how each character face the struggles of family and their boss in the novel For the Win. Doctorow claims that workers from any part of the world face the same struggles against the common enemy, thus motivating individuals to work as a whole in order to fight for their rights and freedom. Throughout the novel, Doctorow utilizes MMORPG as a cultural source to grab young adult’s attention and create a sympathetic mood for the struggles of each character. Doctorow’s audience may be narrowed down into adolescents and young adults. His main purpose is to help his audience learn to be independent and fight for their rights when necessary, and he also wants to help young adults figure out what type of individual they are or may want to become.
