I definitely don’t want you to feel terrible Tiffany Sun! But I’m glad it makes you think about it. I’m at fault for assuming so many times as well, but I think a more interesting approach would be to ask broader questions. I feel like that allows the other person to fill up the space with their personal experiences rather than our assumptions that they then have to prove or disprove. When you give someone the opportunity to do that, it always leads to a better conversation on both sides, more learning and deeper listening!
