Agree wholly that Medium is a publishing tool and a network, regardless of which way you come in. For Absurdist, I’d brought my IRL network and was seeking a more robust publishing platform than Tumblr — the network here amplified it!

But…in network sciences, nodes aren’t just people, it’s also content. I think that’s a big opportunity for Medium — facilitate discovery of articles, genres & ideas. I’d hope that part of networks (content discovery) develops more on the platform and not simply social networks.
