Wanted: A Witty Title(actually a blog about music)

Leeds Fest 2018. The year-long build up of excitement and anticipation came rising to a bubbling climax on Wednesday the 22nd of August. Those of you who know me know how much I love it and those of you who don’t soon will.(if anyone will still read these stupid things I write).

Combining beautiful music and beautiful people, Leeds Festival is the best thing I have ever experienced and the main reason I’m writing this right now is because I’m missing it like mad. Some biblical performances were on show and I’m gonna pick a few of the most superlative to share with you.

So, to get us underway we have Wolf Alice and Saturday night, a better combo than Netflix and subtitles (the only way to do it). Owing to my previous ramblings of this band-if you read it- you probably know I might just have a slight obsession. I could talk for hours about them but you’ve heard it all before so I’ll pick two moments then shut up and let you go.

1. Don’t Delete the Kisses- ever since it’s conception this song has a special place in my heart, along with the people who I’ve listened to it with ,namely the legend that is Dan Hannan. Once again I witnessed its beauty from the comfort of a pair of shoulders and I think if I ever see this song played and I’m not crushing Aaron’s spine then the world with very probably have come to a dismal end.

2.Silk- a song rarely heard live but a song that can never ever get old( unlike Katie Hopkins who needs to 0121 do one). The first time hearing it live was heavenly and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier.

Skipping along to a drowned and drenched Sunday afternoon and to a band who many of you may never have heard of. HMLTD or Happy Meals Ltd to give their name it’s full glory. Having had their live performance recommended to me by Aaron , who needs to control his ample excitement in order to keep in future to keep injuries to a minimum ( RIP Anna’s nose), I made sure to attend. Disappointment was nowhere in sight. Ripping through a vigorous and vociferous punky poppy set with numbers such as To The Door and Music! standing out HMLTD are certainly a band to look out for as their influence grows and their get-up becomes ever wackier.

To this up I’ll draw upon one more stunning experience, this one being Brockhampton. Since being introduced to them in a politics lesson many moons ago by my good friend Ben, a trip to see them in the flesh had been on the bucket list. I think I can say that box now has a tick the size of Darragh Kennedy’s ego in it. Blending passionate and pulsating hip-hop via tunes such as BOOGIE and GOLD with more mellow and resonating songs such as SUMMER and BLEACH they have something for everyone and could very well be the next big thing. Awesome.

Leeds Fest and the times spent with my friends will be ingrained in my mind forever and I don’t think anything will ever make me as happy as spending 5 days in a field with music and people I love.
