‘I am not so happy with the price that a customer is willing to give me, but I am afraid of saying no. What should I do?’
Let me share with you a story of mine.
Once upon a time, I reached out to a yoga studio and wanted to offer my courses there, because I was told it was one of the best yoga studios in my city.
However the owner offered me a very low price and said it was not possible to increase, no matter how good or popular my courses would be.
I was afraid to say NO at that moment, because I was so afraid to lose the opportunity. So I made a huge compromise.
However, after my very first course, she asked me to do extra work like cleaning WC, washing glasses, closing the studio after my course, without asking me if I was willing to do that or not and without paying me extra.
Then I told her: ‘I will only give courses at your studio for 1 month (a minimal period as agreed in advance) and btw if you need me to do extra work, you need to pay me extra.’
She refused to pay me extra and so we ended our collaboration after that very first course.
Insight that I have learnt from my experiences: Set your clear boundaries and hold onto your boundaries. People respect it or not, it’s their business!
Do not be afraid to lose cheap opportunities, you deserve sth much better. The real good opportunities are on the way!
