Let’s beat the dinosaurs
Every time you read a book by a writer from last century or look at an artwork from hundreds of years ago, a new artist or a writer starves.
Many people don’t have the time to view all available works of art, so they can only see something that is well known by the majority. If that majority thinks that something from the past is better than something from the present, then we have a problem: new works are just not better than the old ones.
So if you’re thinking of creating art, ask yourself a question: is your piece better than something from 50, 100 or 200 years ago? If you place them side by side, which one will catch the public’s attention?
If you want to make art and live, you’ve got to beat the cultural dinosaurs.
