Let’s make tech that is relevant
It’s amazing how much is drive there is for developing technology and how much money is wasted when it fails. I’m seeing too many stories of failure, and same old reason: not enough people using some new app or gadget.
Huge amounts of resources were put into technology like Large Hadron Collider and scientific research and development institutes, like MIT. However, can you name a similar sized institution that is actively involved in the study of human needs? I can’t.
There are almost 7 billion people in the world, and the interactions between them, societies and businesses are more complex than interactions between subatomic particles. If we put more effort into learning about connections between various aspects of human society, we might have a better idea about what people need and what will bring true success. Developing tech and expecting people to conform to it rarely works.
