Hi Jeannie, I agree with your view that UX design can be used to refer to both a result and a process! The main issue that I have, that I mentioned in my article, is that UX (without “design” attached behind it) is not a process.
Shorthand (using “UX” to mean “UX design”, or vice versa) can be really useful in day-to-day work, and has its place. But formal explanations or definitions are, in my opinion, not the right place for shorthand language. =)
