Kindness is defined as

“the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. Affection, gentleness, warmth, concern, and care are words that are associated with kindness. Being kind often requires courage and strength. Kindness is an interpersonal skill”.

There are different ways to practice Kindness. One way to be kind is to open your eyes and be active when you see people in need. Opening your eyes means noticing when others are suffering. A kind word, a smile, opening a door, or helping carry a heavy load can all be acts of kindness. Celebrating someone you love, giving honest compliments, sending an email thanking someone, telling someone how s/he is special to you, sharing homemade food, refusing to gossip, and donating old clothing and things you don’t need are all ideas about how to practice kindness.

My five acts of Kindness:

Following are some of my small acts of kindness which I perform this week.

  • I have a bad habit that I interrupt often when someone is interrupting. So this time I have tried to keep myself all ears and listened to my friend without interruption. I found she was so happy due to my consideration and interest in what she is saying
  • There is one of my friend and I was very angry with her. I thought to write something irritating on her post on Facebook but I didn’t and think I must not be the same as she is.
  • Due to some reason our maid couldn’t come so I decided to do the cleaning on my own and wanted to give comfort to my Mom. After cleaning I have even made lunch for everyone at home.
  • I have bought a new dress and after buying I have pick a dress to give it someone who is really in need. I gave it to the person I know.
  • There is an old woman works at my college I bought food and tea and handed over to her.
  • I have started teaching two kids free of cost and working on their grooming as well.
  • There was internet connection issue I was very upset because my tasks were pending but I have talked to Customer Care Representative in a requesting way.

Experience:

It gave me immense pleasure and the feeling of inner satisfaction. I found there is humanity in me and found how a small act of kindness gave me what I really needed. To the people I helped they made special pray for me and even my mom was so relaxed and calm that day that it reflected through her face.I have experienced that it doesn’t take a lot of effort or huge amount to do an act of kindness but it is all depend upon us. If everyone started working on small act of kindness there would be no one who would sad or unhappy. It reduces the gap between rich and poor. It provides the sense of sharing and sacrificing.

I would like to say “Together we can build a bridge of love”.

It is highly relevant for working in a team when anyone join the job because there is people at workplace who have diverse background. If someone need help we have to help him as well and understand others. Doing small act of kindness includes giving a smile so even if someone in a bad mood, a smile will make his/her day. The feeling of togetherness and giving remove the divides and specially if there is a common goal to achieve it can be achieve easily. Giving your colleagues a treat makes you closer to them and it creates friendly environment as well. A friendly environment leads you healthy environment.
