When it comes to strategies that gain traffic, guest posting is said to be up there with the very best. However, there are also many negatives to the process including the time it takes so we have another solution — republishing.

With republishing, the main idea is to take the articles you have already written and get them on large publications. At first, this sounds difficult but we have some superb advice for you today.

Why? — In truth, the reasons to why this is a good idea are clear to see. Once you put hours into an article, you want to get the most use out of it as possible. If you have created an extensive guide on a particular topic, you can repurpose it and allow it to reach a much larger audience than your own. As long as the content will help others, you shouldn’t have a problem gaining an audience.

Negative SEO? — Over the years, republishing has been haunted by rumors that it affects SEO in a bad way because it is essentially the same as duplicating content. However, this simply isn’t true and many experts believe that the only bad thing to come of this is that Google will not know which to place higher than the other. If you want the original to rank higher, you should be looking to have your content indexed first, rewrite a small section of the content, or change the title of the piece.

How? — With those questions out of the way, the next is ‘well, how can I even do this?’ and this is fair.

Step 1.

To start, you will need to search your industry for publications that are happy to republish content. As a general rule, the larger publishers will need more content so this is a good place to start. In the search engine, be sure to use words like ‘contribute’, ‘republish’, or even ‘repost’. Furthermore, you can also search influencers to see where they have been published in the past.

Step 2.

Next, you need to choose the right content to suit the chosen website. At this point, you could check the most shared content on a given website because you can be sure that the site wants more of this. For the most part, they will normally be articles or guides that apply both now and long into the future.

Step 3.

Once you have the first two steps, you will need to create your pitch. In addition to finding the right editor and using their name, your pitch needs to be exciting and as though you really have something to offer them. Too often, people concentrate on what the site can do for them but this is the wrong attitude. As soon as they know what you can offer, they will be more willing to listen. Finally, make sure you answer the key questions because the reader should never walk away from the email feeling unsure or confused.

Step 4.

After pitching, make sure that your content is ready for republishing. With this, you should set objectives, review the links used within, change the format to suit the site, make small changes, and make sure the site’s guidelines are being followed.

Step 5.

After sending the article over, you should set your website up for the leads that may come and be sure to direct readers to the right location. By using CTAs and tracking the results, you will see where to improve and how to make the most from the opportunity.

There we have, some fantastic advice for republishing — this could be your guide to reaching a larger audience so go out there and make it happen!
