Introduction

Selling digital products online can be an excellent way to earn extra income, or even make a living. Even if you’re just looking for some spare change, these products are easy to create and sell without having to invest in inventory. However, there’s one question that many new sellers have: which digital products should I sell? Here’s a breakdown of ten types of digital products any creative person can make and sell:

Ebooks

If your goal is to provide information, ebooks are a great way to do so. Whether you’re looking to share your knowledge or sell a tips-and-tricks guide on how to accomplish a task, an ebook can be an easy and affordable way to deliver that information.

One of the greatest things about eBooks is that they don’t take up any physical space — in fact, they only take up virtual space! You can put all of them on one USB drive and carry around with you wherever you go. When I was growing up in college my friend had thousands upon thousands of textbooks for his classes, which got pretty heavy after awhile. With all this weight he had piled onto his back it was no surprise that he eventually decided against bringing any books home from school at all!

Video courses

Video courses are an excellent way to teach a skill. If you’re an expert in some particular field, you may be able to create a video course that teaches people how to master that skill.

Video courses can also be used as marketing tools for your business or brand. If you have a product or service that people might pay for, but don’t have the time or money for, creating a free “introduction” course will help them learn enough about what makes it so special before they decide whether or not they want to buy it.

Video courses are also great at building communities around your topics of expertise and products/services offered by your business/brand. It gives members something else besides just receiving information from you — they can interact with each other as well!

Audio products

Audio products are a great way to get started with selling digital products. Audio products are easy to create, and they can be sold online or offline.

You can sell audio products as individual audio files (like songs), or you can sell them in bundles (like albums). You might also consider selling your audio content as part of a series; for example, if your book is called “The 10 Habits Of Highly Effective People,” you could offer a companion program featuring recorded interviews with highly successful people who adhere to these habits.

Informational guides

Informational guides are books, courses, or any other type of resource that teaches the reader about a topic.

  • Informational guides can be general in scope and apply to anyone who wants to learn more about a particular subject.
  • They can also be more specific and target an audience with a specific interest or need.

Services

The service you offer can be as simple or as complicated as you want. Services can be offered as an upsell, one-off, or recurring. They can be in person or remotely. They can also be sold in packages or a la carte. You could even sell your services in the form of subscriptions!

Here are some examples:

  • A freelance writer offers her writing services to clients on an hourly basis with no contract required. She then sells packages of five hours at a time to people who hire her frequently.
  • A graphic designer gives a free consultation at the beginning of each project so that they have an idea of what the client needs and how much time it would take for them to complete it themselves before deciding whether or not they want professional help (and if so, how much).

Templates and tools

Templates and tools are a great way to sell your design services.

It’s true that templates and tools can be used for a variety of purposes, which is why they’re so popular with visual designers. But they’re also good for any business that wants to make their life easier by letting customers do the work themselves (think: video editors, e-commerce businesses, etc.).

And if you think templates are only useful in certain industries (like design or web development), think again — they can be used across many different types of business!

As long as it provides an easy solution for completing a task or improving workflow efficiency, then it’s worth considering as an ebook or subscription product idea.

Printables

Printables are printable files that you give to your customers. They can be used for a variety of purposes, including crafts, scrapbooking, and invitations. Some printables are digital and some physical; the former is typically made up of PDFs or JPEGs while the latter can be anything from a hand drawn card to an actual embroidered tea towel.

Here’s how you can start selling printables:

  • Figure out what kind of printables you want to sell — You don’t have to limit yourself to one type! For example: You could offer both digital and physical items as part of your business model if they’re related in any way (like artwork printed on canvas). The important thing is that each product is something that complements each other well so it doesn’t feel like there’s too much overlap between them all together.* Choose which platform will work best for selling these products — Most people choose Etsy because it has been around longer than any other marketplace but there are lots more options out there if you decide against Etsy.

Scripts or templates for video or other media

If you’re a filmmaker, actor, director or producer and there’s a script you love but don’t have the time to use it in your own work, why not sell it as an ebook? You can also sell scripts for podcasts and social media content.

Graphic Designers can offer their services, fonts, and other elements.

You also don’t have to worry about returns or customer service.

Conclusion

What are you going to sell? If you’re still not sure what type of product you want to create, try looking at the markets that are popular today. You can use a research tool like Google Trends or Shopify Pingdom Tools to find out where people are searching online. Or you can always ask your customers what they would like more of. And remember, if you don’t have any ideas yet, it might be time to come up with them! We hope this list has helped inspire some digital products that could help your business grow.
