‘News Of The World’ Album Cover

News of the world is one of the most consistent albums in terms of songs being good one after the other. It would have been a miracle to follow up the successful “A night at the opera” album, as it had arguably the greatest song in Rock history, Bohemian Rhapsody. Even though ‘News of the world’ is as creative and more straightforward, it still rocks hard with emotion and great songs.

1- We will Rock You- A sports anthem, A fan favourite, a classic, We will rock you was written by the guitarist, Brian May, to make the audience feel like they were a part of the song. It is a perfect song for athletes and fans to get their adrenaline pumping before a game and a delightful one to sing along to.
Verse- 8/10
Chorus- 8/10
Spacial riff or hook- 10/10
Lyrics- 7/10
My rating- 8.5/10

2- We are the champions- Again, a Rock anthem, we are the champions, is one of the most iconic rock songs to this date. Even though the lyrics are somewhat childish, the fantastic vocals of Freddie Mercury and the emotion behind the instruments are what makes it Queen’s and my favourite song in rock history.
Verse- 9.5/10
Chorus- 10/10
Spacial riff or hook- 9/10
Lyrics- 9/10
My rating- 9.5/10

3- Sheer heart attack- Believe it or not, Queen and Sex Pistols recorded their albums in the same studio, and ‘Punk Rock’ started to gain its fame around the time of release. Even the song was written in 1974 before ‘punk’ was released in 1977 to match the punk culture rising in the UK. It’s a highly catchy and fun song to listen to and one that gets lift someone’s mood when down.
Verse- 7/10
Chorus- 7/10
Spacial riff or hook- 7/10
Lyrics- 7/10
My rating- 7/10

4-All dead All dead- An extremely underrated song, ‘All dead All dead’ is about Brian May losing his cat when he was little. He also sings the song as it means a lot to him. The song also has one of the most beautiful middle sections ever and will always go down as one of Brian May’s best-written songs for Queen.
Verse- 7.5/10
Chorus- 8/10
Spacial riff or hook- 7.5/10
Lyrics- 7/10
My rating-7.5/10

5-Spread your wings- A beautiful ballad, spread your wings, was written by John Deacon, the bassist of Queen. One of my favourite songs as it was incredibly unique and different from what other bands released back then. The song ends with a beautiful outro and will always go down as one of Queen’s most underrated songs.
Verse- 8.5/10
Chorus- 8.5/10
Spacial riff or hook- 8.5/10
Lyrics- 8.5/10
My rating- 8/5.10

6- Fight from the inside- Sung and written by Queens drummer Roger Taylor, fight from the inside is one of the heavier songs on the album. It opens with a very catchy riff but gets too cheesy and typical when you reach the chorus. A fun song, but nowhere close to as creative as what Queen can produce.
Verse- 6/10
Chorus- 5/10
Spacial riff or hook- 7/10
Lyrics- 4/10
My rating- 5.5/10

7-Get down, make love- Better than fight from the inside, but still one of the weakest in the album. It is a song about sex that is very closely linked with Freddie Mercury’s life. The music can get repetitive and boring for some people, but others might enjoy it and have fun. Overall it isn’t a bad song but again, not a good one either.
Verse- 6/10
Chorus- 6.5/10
Spacial riff or hook- 7.5/10
Lyrics- 4/10
My rating- 6/10

8-Sleeping on the sidewalk- Written by Brian May, Sleeping on the sidewalk is a blues-rock sounding song. It shows the different genres Queen explores, especially in this album. It is extremely catchy and has a nice guitar solo. Not a brilliant piece by any means but one which is enjoyable to listen to.
Verse- 7.5/10
Chorus- 8/10
Spacial riff or hook- 7.5/10
Lyrics- 7/10
My rating- 7.5/10

9-Who needs you- One of the most unique Queen songs as it explores the Latin genre. There are elements of rock and folk but again shows how creative Queen’s minds were. There is also a beautiful guitar solo which makes the song great in many ways.
Verse- 8/10
Chorus- 8/10
Spacial riff or hook- 7.5/10
Lyrics- 8/10
My rating- 8/10

10-It’s late- The longest song on the album, It’s Late, is about how most Rock bands sounded in the ’70s but still provides that Unique Queen feel about it. The chorus offers that punch people don’t expect and makes the song enjoyable.
Verse- 7.5/10
Chorus- 8/10
Spacial riff or hook- 8/10
Lyrics- 7/10
My rating 7.5/10

11-My Melancholy blues- In this song, Queen explores the genre of Jazz. Queen just makes every genre sound good. In this song, you get to hear what a good studio singer Freddie Mercury was. It also happens to be the last song on the album and ends in a very satisfying way.
Verse- 8.5/10
Chorus- 9/10
Spacial riff or hook- 7.5/10
Lyrics- 8/10
My rating- 8.5/10
