I always think I am not a pet person. If I get a pet, between a dog and a cat, I prefer a dog. Now, I have owned my first cat for a month and I like him. Never say never.

Animal companionship is not a goal of mine, although I accept it has positive health benefits to human beings. My wife, however, is into animal companionship and had been considering having a pet for a long time. She is a dog person. We both know our time limitations do not allow us to walk a dog everyday, and we do not like cats.

One day, we decided to ‘just visit’ a nearby humane society for fun. On the entrance, we saw a room of kittens. They were very cute. Baby animals are all cute indeed. My wife liked them very much. We quickly stepped onto a critical point where we get a pet now or never. Not a fan of pets, I, however, is open minded to new things. I decided to give it a try to have a cat. Now, our cat, Sparky, has been with us for a month.

Sparky has big eyes!

Owning my first cat is a nice learning experience. I learned about cat food, cat toys, cat litters, cat health care, cat behaviors, cat shops and many more. My cat is cute, my recent photos in my phone are all cat photos! For me, one surprising fact about cats is when they are active during the day. They are hunters at dawn and dusk, therefore my cat wants to play with us during breakfast and dinner time. Although we do not need to “walk him” like walking a dog, we do need to entertain him a little bit with toys.

My wife enjoys playing with Sparky a lot. I feel comfortable to have him around. Overall, he is a nice addition to us.
