I prefer to not see my friends often and I live in an urban environment. So, this article initially made me feel like a smart person. Until, of course, I read the theory.
The human body has evolved extensively over thousands of years to accommodate it’s surroundings. From skin colour to height, agility to strength. Even the ability to eat gluten or drink milk has evolved in some of us. Neurologists have found the brain is plastic – it is actively shaped by its environment and experience. And this is in the course of one life.
I find it hard to believe that through over thousands and thousands of years of evolution, the human brain hasn’t adapted to cities. Especially when they’ve been around since ancient times.
I think the research data is statistically sound, but the accompanying theory for the results tries too hard to simplify varied personality traits.
