Well written, Gloria DiFulvio. So many memories flooded into my consciousness as I read and recalled my own Catholic grade school in the Great Plains during the 1950s. Mostly I felt John’s shyness, insecurity, lack of self-confidence and self-worth. I am not gay, but I support them and their community. Gay or straight, no child should have to endure bullying and abuse at home, at school, on the playground, anywhere…
