Unity through Joint Creation

One upon a time, some millennia ago, a group set out to make a change in the world. It was an idea about a long lasting change, but it would not be set in motion until much later. Things had to deteriorate first, but when time was right, the product of their idea would be set in action and ignite the needed change in the world. As things work on the grander scale of matters, such effects are often not noticeable by most, but little by little the world changes and few are those aware of what started it or what other things start as a ripple effect of it, because those too are on a deeper layer than most are aware of.

The group had some remarkable skills, but it wasn’t just because they were skilled, but because they came together in unity for one cause; To make the world a world for every kind of being, because at this time, there were other beings around too and there were issues in the interaction between them. It was a world where differences were seen more than alikeness and for this the group consisted of different beings who each brought their skills and the wisdom and needs from their sphere. The basic setting of it all was that it had to be done in accordance to earthly law, which means, in accordance to earth, to what was beneficial and in tune with her, for her to be part of the creation ahead. That was the truth these beings had chosen to follow. It is a choice we all can make at any time.

After this was done many of the beings retreated into their realms and was rarely seen again by humans and our belief in them subsided. Humanity had to evolve into wiser beings and for that interaction could not exist.

Time passed and the discrepancies between people pushed us all to experience domination and victimhood. With time previous war zones became peaceful zones. Queen Victoria did it the old style, by marrying off all her 9 children to different kingdoms in Europe making everyone related, to prevent war. That was unity though family. The European Union was created to do the same, through financial dependency, creating unity. In both these settings there is one underlaying action though that we tend to forget and that is that in families you become more family through your babies. In financial dependency you become more linked through joint business, business you create together. The basis in both is not family, nor finances, but creation, joint creation.

In the today we are there again, but it’s not just about Europe. We need a unity in how we treat the world and each other. Marrying princes and princesses seem a bit outdated and financial unity demands big businesses or a willingness from many big institutions to create peace and sometimes there are even ideas about those big institutions being ruled by those not really wanting peace, because they have financial interest in the opposite. That leaves us with us, individuals and we can go back to the small group consisting of one or a few of each kind, who set out to create a change for the world a few millennia ago.

If the basis for unity is creation, then let us create, together!

I created the Nordic Society of Irish Dancers (NSID) in 2000, after just having danced for 2 years (I started in ’98). You don’t need to be more skilled than that to create something valuable. It grew and with the activities it expanded incorporating many more nationalities and interactions than just the Nordic people, quite unexpectedly. There are people now having been connected in some way to it, in as widely spread countries as Canada, USA, Japan & Russia. This is thanks to the interaction, the meeting point the association became though its activities. The people of the society come from all different kinds of jobs: teachers, vets, engineers, musicians and so on, all united under one interest and that gives different kinds of ideas, backgrounds and perspectives and all is accepted and allowed, because all have one love for the dance form. When I created the society one basic thing was very important to me and that was a good and not competitive atmosphere, ie a friendly atmosphere even at the competitions and that was what we had. Of course the serious committee doing some really silly performances on stage in front of everyone might have helped with that. The oh so Irish dance has become an intercultural thing.

I have Viking interested friends here and as I see them go travelling they connect with Viking or history interested people everywhere in Europe. There are even modern Viking people in Brazil! If you go looking for Celtic music, you will find it in many places with no Celtic heritage at all. These are just a few examples, how culture and art connect people. In the old we were limited to act locally. In the today we are borderless thanks to the Internet. With travel we can also meet.

If we want peace and unity in this world we need to start creating together. It’s not just about meeting or having dinner together, even though it’s a good initiative (by some Swedish people) because that can start a connection between people of different cultures, not knowing one another. If we want true effect we need to start creating, co-creating together, from our interests, from what we love and cherish and when it comes to art and culture, there are more connection points than differences, as the examples above show and anything really that is of life, is part of culture, but any creation which brings in two different parties is a creation, and as such is valid.

These examples are just a few of my interests. I am sure you have your own. What is your passion and who can you find elsewhere who has the same? Go back to the old idea about letter/mail friends, but do it more purposefully. Exchange ideas, visions, just talk and see new perspectives, see how the same is done elsewhere, interact and create something from it, maybe it’s just an idea, but let it grow into a creation. Change the world, one creation at the time. Take back your own responsibility for the world, because if you have enough faith you can move mountains!

15 years has now passed since I created the NSID and the ripple effects are amazing. When you hear people express gratitude for it having given them the opportunity to getting into show business by secondary effects, or ending up placing in the European championships you feel humble. I never saw that coming and such things are what is important in others’ lives, what makes lives important. For me, it was a wonderful experience and I met some of my dearest friends, also because when you create together under the same passion you start loving a bit more.
