CEO Carl Pei former co-founder of OnePlus has continued his teaser campaign for the upcoming Nothing Phone(1) with a scheduled release on July 12 at a launch event. He recently confirmed that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 778G+premium mid-range SoC.

Nothing Phone(1)

This is not a surprise as the prototype of the Nothing Phone(1) was spotted hosting this very chip-set at Geekbench a few days ago. But only recently confirmed.

We could presume due to high inflation chip-sets have become very expensive compared to back when he co-founded OnePlus. OnePlus was able to use the best SoC of its time while keeping the launch price of their devices at $100 less than the Nothing Phone(1) is rumoured to launch at.

The company has come forward to say the Snapdragon 778G+ is custom tuned for their phone(1) but no explanation was told as to what that means exactly, so I can advise we don’t take it serious. The most interesting thing about this Snapdragon 778G+ is that its said the “+” stands for wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

Nothing says that those features were specifically made for their phone by Qualcomm which could be true or false, but not impossible. So far no other device running the Snapdragon 778G or the 778G+ is known to feature the features Nothing has brought forward.

The CEO Carl Pei said a lot about why they chose the mid-range chip-set for their first phone, such as the and I quote ‘phones have reached a point of good enough performance for general tasks and more powerful chips have diminishing returns’.

But with all that the phone is capable to keep its relative price low, will you be getting this device at launch ? Let me know if possible.
