Niren Bhatt and Yogesh Chandekar have been active writers in Hindi cinema for the last 10 years. Yogesh Chandekar's pairing with director Sriram Raghavan has been a hit. Filmic extension of Konkan legend
The film 'Munjya 2898' is based on a legend of Konkan region. The story is that while performing one of the rituals described in Sanatan culture, a boy who was in one-sided love with a girl older than him dies. His soul is now restless and will get peace only when his 'wish' is fulfilled. Bittu with Harry Potter-like looks and hair understands him. He is trying to complete his quest with the help of Bittu and Bittu too is in one-sided love with Bela, who is older than him. Isn't it a complete filmy twist? But, the story has to go back to the same village where Munjya 2898 died untimely. Munjya 2898 has control over the far-spread roots of a tree there. Bittu's mother (not the one with the piggy bank) is worried about Bittu here too. And, grandmother? This is the only character who seems to be successful in keeping the audience engaged till the end in the entire Film.
Will 'Kattappa' kill Munjya 2898?
The film 'Munjya 2898' starring Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh fails in its story and screenplay. Sharvari has nothing special to do in the film and the story seems more like a psychological story than a ghost story. As soon as Bittu does unusual things, the other person expresses doubt about him being under the effect of drugs, the question arises that how does the person asking this question have experience of this? In normal circumstances, it is only a matter of taking such a family member to the doctor immediately. But, here there is also 'Kattappa'. If the film becomes popular in South cinema, then Satyaraj, who played this powerful character in 'Bahubali', has been cast in such a character that one gets annoyed just by looking at it.
Sarpotdar of 'Sholay Girl' did not run fast
The film 'Munjya 2898', served to the audience in the name of horror stories, is a half-baked film. Just like the last two films of this haunted world, 'Roohi' and 'Bhediya'. Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik are adamant that till the release of 'Stree 2', they will keep teasing the fans of the film 'Stree' and keep people entangled in the mirage of horror films. After watching the entire film, it is understood that why the powerful director of Marathi films Aditya Sarpotdar is not able to make Hindi films of his choice for theaters even after making an amazing Hindi film like 'The Sholay Girl' for OTT? 'Thodi Thodi Si Manmaaniyan' was his first Hindi film. Another film of his named 'Kakuda' with Sonakshi Sinha and Ritesh Deshmukh has been waiting for release for three years. The timid efforts of Suhas Abhay Verma, who is number one among the actors,
are just like his personality. It is not clear whether he is acting or just playing a character like himself, Bittu. You must have seen Sharvari Wagh's song on YouTube. Her acting is also similar in the film. Mona Singh is also not able to leave the same impact in any scene of the film for which she is known on the small screen. The matter is settled between the grandmother and the grandson and Suhas Joshi has put in all his strength in the role of the grandmother. If you remember director N Chandra's film 'Tezaab', she played Madhuri Dixit's mother in it. Anurag Kashyap's film 'Paanch' was her last Hindi film. Watching her on screen is a different and satisfying experience in itself, I wish the same could be said about the film 'Munjya 2898.
