Everything You Need to Know About Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria
Julia Serano

You compare transgenderism to left-handedness? Wow, that is quite a stretch! There is a form of social contagion but you need some kind of predispositions that have nothing to do with sexual orientation or gender identification. When all combined, you have the said result: transgender label. Some of the variables have definite social characteristics. Other variables are more to do with personal experience and with childhood perspective on what it means to be a man or a woman. Stereotypes are still very strong regardless of what anybody says. Why someone would think that he or she needs to look like the opposite sex in order to be themselves is preposterous. I still don’t understand why many lesbians who hate men so much insist on looking exactly like them. There is a little bit of cognitive dissonance here for me. Maybe you can enlighten me about that one. I do agree however that this ROGD is no different than the old regular dysphoria. Homosexuality is pretty much the same in my book as far as contagion goes. Furthermore, it is easy to influence young people because they go through an identity crisis and many desperately want to be part of a tribe. Let’s just say that they are more at risk if anything.
