I’ve seen a lot of startups struggle because of an overestimation on the Validation phase, which in turn over inflates the Scale rate and then the whole thing collapses in Sustainment.

From the 10,000 foot view, it’s pretty obvious that it’s better to not have enough people to support revenue generating customers rather than the other way around. It’s amazing how this gets lost on the ground.
