My Head is Full of Automobiles

There is nothing like the sound of a well tuned engine. Ever since I was young, cars have been a huge part of my life. My grandfather was a car enthusiast which lead my father to be the same. Unsurprisingly, I inherited the same love for cars. They have always been something that I've been passionate about. To me they are more than a means of getting from point A to point B. As cliche as it sounds, it’s about the journey, not the destination. Although cars have always been an aspect of my life, I never really saw myself making a career out of them. I am not an especially fast driver, so race car driver is out of the picture, and I certainly don’t have the funds to become a High end collector. When my father lost his job in 2008, he decided to do the thing that he loved for a living. Him and his partner opened up the Classic Car Gallery. A vintage car dealership that specializes in cars between 25 to 100 k. I felt there wouldn’t be much of a business for selling only vintage cars because they are complete secondary toys to a normal car. I was more than happy to be wrong about this. When deciding on a major, I wanted to keep my options open to have the opportunity to work in the industry. Yes, I am aware that I go to an Environmental liberal arts school, And Yes I am aware that cars and the environment do not go hand and hand. But Just as much as I love cars I think its ignorant to not embrace a sustainable future. This being said, I know for a fact that if I were to cut out any opportunity's working with cars, it would be a decision I would regret. My hope is one day I will be able to incorporate sustainability into the world of fun and interesting cars.
